Mexico City

Choosing your partner in crime is as important as choosing a destination. In 2019, a close friend and I had finally blocked out a weekend trip to a place that we both desperately wanted to see: Mexico City. She is a Spanish speaker and also an ultimate, fearless, badass. I am not a Spanish speaker but consider myself a low-key, fearless, adventurer. We planned the basics, focusing on a beautiful neighborhood (Roma) and keeping an open itinerary. We both researched our own interests and then we both showed up.

One of my favorite moments of the trip was when we woke up one morning and my friend asked if I’d like to go with her to a café and journal for a few hours (!!). We’re in this amazing city with so much to do, but somehow that was exactly what I wanted to do.

We found a place that seemed like it could exist at a Disney park because it was almost too perfectly cozy. There was a loft with great light and benched tables, so many plants, such great coffee. It set us up for a beautiful day of eating, shopping, and simply absorbing the culture around us.

Have an experience, not just a trip, and love the city you’re in.

Mexico City's beautiful architecture and walkable charm.
